financed school development project). The impact of the reforms in the public sector means that private schools will have more competition from a hitherto non-competitive sector. The fact that education is patently free of fees in the public sector will mean also that when standards improve in that sector as they have already began to do, the natural impact would be a drop in private schools enrolment figures and an increase in public sector enrolment. These issues underscore the need for more
effective management of private schools.

The most significant way of retaining and even increasing schools’ enrolment is for private schools to deliver top class schools achievement result amidst judicious management of funds and stakeholder “buy in”. This is where strategy and leadership as well as effective monitoring of school processes come in to avail for the school that will succeed.
