Nigerian Breweries - Calabar

Nigerian Breweries Plc is the proud pioneer and largest brewing firm in Nigeria. The company was incorporated in 1946 and achieved a major milestone in June 1949 when the first bottle of STAR lager beer was bottled at their Lagos Brewery. This original brewery in Lagos has gone through several improvements and is now equipped with some of the most modern brewery technology available. In 1957, they opened a second brewery in Aba, which has also been recently upgraded. The Kaduna Brewery was established in 1963, followed by the Ibadan Brewery in 1982. In 1993, Nigerian Breweries Plc purchased a fifth brewery in Enugu. The Ama Brewery was opened in October 2003 at Ama-eke in 9th Mile, Enugu and is now the largest and most modern brewery in the country. Operations at the old Enugu Brewery

In October 2011, Nigerian Breweries Plc acquired a majority of the equity interests in Sona Systems Associates Business Management Limited and Life Breweries Company Limited from Heineken N.V. This came after Heineken had obtained a controlling stake in five breweries in Nigeria from Sona Group in January 2011. Sona Systems' two breweries in Ota and Kaduna, as well as Life Breweries in Onitsha, are now part of Nigerian Breweries Plc, along with the three brands: Goldberg lager, Malta Gold, and Life
