Established in May 1990, Zenith Bank Plc commenced operations in July of the same year as a commercial bank. In June 17, 2004 it became a public limited company and was listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). This was followed by a successful Initial Public Offering (IPO) on October 21, 2004, making it Nigeria's biggest bank by tier-1 capital with a shareholder base of about one million. In 2013, the Bank listed $850 million worth of its shares on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) at $6.80 each.
