Aso Radio 93.5FM was established in 1997 by Rtd. Brigadier General J.T Useni, the then former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The construction of the studios and installation of equipment commenced thereafter.
The station was commissioned on the 19th May 1999 by Rtd General Mamman T. Kontagora the then Minister of the FCT and began regular transmission since then.
The radio station was set up to provide broadcasting service, and operate as the official broadcasting communication network of the FCTA.
The station has become one of the main radio broadcasting stations in the capital city, Abuja.
Aso Radio and Aso Television were merged to form Abuja Broadcasting Corporation, (ABC).
The Board of Directors and management of the corporation were inaugurated by
The immediate assignment of the Board and management was to reorganize and reposition the radio arm as well as to supervise and accelerate the processes leading to the take-off of the television station.
Its target customers is FCTA and its agencies, other government establishments and institutions in the capital city, the public, religious bodies, advertising agencies, multinational companies, financial institutions, telecommunication services among others.
