Great Brands Nigeria Limited - Lagos

Great Brands Nigeria Limited (GBNL) is the exclusive distributor for British American Tobacco Nigeria Limited (BATN). The two companies have a long-term distribution agreement that was finalized in April 2001.

To undertake product distribution, GBNL has invested heavily in its distribution infrastructure of Warehouses, Master Depots, Depots, and Sales Centers. Besides setting up its Corporate office in Lagos , and five regional offices in Lagos , Ibadan , Abuja , Port Harcourt and Kano; GBNL also has area offices in Benin, Ilorin, Onitsha, Jos, Maiduguri, Sokoto, Benin, Makurdi, Port Harcourt, Kaduna, Gombe, etc.

Recognizing that the needs of the Nigerian market are large and spread across a wide geographical area, GBNL has appointed sub distributors to undertake distribution into

the regional and interior areas. At the start of business in 2001, GBNL appointed Interfoods Distribution Company Limited (IDC) as its sub-distributor to develop the its initial distribution infrastructure across Nigeria . During the two year period ended 31 st March 2003, based on the first phase of initial investment made by GBNL and IDC, the company acquired approx. 55-60% of the market share in the cigarette industry.
